1. Overview
This policy governs the purchase, download, and use of digital products sold on Own Your Publishing (https://ownyourpublishing.com).
Digital products include:
- EPUB files (e-books)
- PDF documents
- Audio files
- Any downloadable content
2. License Grant
2.1 What You Own vs. What You License
You own:
- Your purchase receipt
- The right to read the content for personal use
- A copy on your device(s)
You do NOT own:
- The copyright or intellectual property
- The right to redistribute or share
- The right to modify the content
- Commercial usage rights
2.2 License Type
When you purchase a digital product, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:
- Read the content on personal devices you own
- Print for personal use (reasonable number of copies)
- Access the content after purchase (subject to service continuation)
This license is for personal use only. Commercial use is prohibited.
3. Download Rights & Limitations
3.1 Download Entitlement
Upon purchase, you are entitled to:
- One download of your purchased file
- Access for 30 days from purchase date
- Re-downloads during the 30-day window (if needed)
3.2 Download Link Expiration
Download links expire after 30 days for security reasons:
- After 30 days, links become invalid
- No additional charges to request a new link
- Contact us for re-download access
- Response within 24-48 hours
3.3 How to Download
- Purchase the product
- Receive email with download link
- Click link to download file
- Save to your device
- Open with compatible reader (EPUB reader, PDF viewer, etc.)
3.4 Storage & Backups
We recommend:
- Save your file to multiple devices or cloud storage
- Create personal backups
- Use a dedicated e-reader app
We are not responsible for:
- Lost files (you must maintain backups)
- Device malfunction or data loss
- File corruption (though rare)
4. Permitted Use
You may:
- Read the content on devices you own
- Print physical copies for personal use (reasonable quantity)
- Highlight, annotate, or bookmark for personal study
- Share quotes or excerpts (with attribution) in reviews or social posts
- Reference content in personal writing or presentations
4.1 Personal Use Definition
Personal use means:

- Not for profit or commercial gain
- Within your household or immediate circle
- Educational use by students for non-commercial purposes
Personal use does NOT include:
- Sharing the entire file
- Republishing the content
- Using for commercial purposes
- Selling or licensing to others
5. Prohibited Uses
5.1 Absolute Prohibitions
You may NOT:
Distribution:
- Share, email, or upload the file to others
- Post the file on file-sharing sites (torrent, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)
- Distribute through messaging apps or cloud services
- Make the file publicly available
Commercial Use:
- Sell or resell the file
- Use for business or commercial purposes
- Incorporate into products or services sold to others
- License or sublicense the content
Modification & Adaptation:
- Alter, edit, or modify the content
- Create derivative works
- Translate without permission
- Reformat and republish
Circumvention:
- Attempt to remove DRM or protection
- Bypass access restrictions
- Reverse-engineer or decompile
- Extract code or methodology
AI & Machine Learning:
- Use for training AI models or chatbots
- Feed into language models
- Use for machine learning purposes
- Extract data for algorithmic purposes
Plagiarism:
- Copy passages without attribution
- Claim authorship of the work
- Republish as your own
5.2 Consequences of Violation
Violations may result in:
- Account suspension or termination
- Loss of access to library
- Forfeiture of purchase
- Legal action
- Takedown notices
- Damages and attorney fees
6. Digital Rights Management (DRM)
6.1 Our Approach
Own Your Publishing's digital products may include:
- DRM-free: No protection (most common)
- Watermarking: Personal identifier embedded in file
- DRM-protected: Encryption or copy protection
6.2 Watermarking
If your file is watermarked:
- Your personal information is embedded in the file
- This identifies you as the licensed user
- If the file is found online elsewhere, we can trace it to your account
6.3 DRM Circumvention
We prohibit circumventing DRM through:
- Removal software or tools
- Decryption attempts
- Modification of files
- Bypass techniques
Legal note: In most jurisdictions, circumventing DRM is illegal even if you own the file.
7. Device & Platform Flexibility
7.1 Multi-Device Access
You may read your purchased file on:
- Multiple personal devices (laptop, tablet, phone, e-reader)
- Different operating systems (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, etc.)
- Compatible reading apps (Kindle, Apple Books, Adobe Digital Editions, etc.)

You are responsible for:
- Choosing compatible applications
- Managing your files across devices

8. Format & Compatibility

- Kindle-compatible formats (for Amazon devices)
8.2 Format Conversions
- You may convert EPUB to other formats for personal use
- Conversion is your responsibility

- We are not responsible for conversion errors or issues
8.3 Technical Support

9. Refunds & Returns

- Changing devices doesn't require repurchase
10.2 Family Sharing
Allowed:
- You may share on your personal devices
- Family members using your devices may read
NOT allowed:
- Sharing account login (violates Terms of Service)
- Sharing file with others' devices
- Licensed reading by others outside your household
11. Content Restrictions
11.1 Age-Restricted Content
Some products are restricted to 18+ users:
- Age verification required at checkout
- By purchasing, you confirm you are 18+
- False age verification violates Terms of Service
11.2 Mature Content Warning
Products containing mature themes include warnings:
- Violence, explicit content, or disturbing themes

12. Liability & Technical Issues

These apps are third-party:
- We don't control their policies
- Their privacy policies apply to their apps
- Technical issues with apps contact their support

You may store files in:

- Device backups (iCloud, Google Photos—personal use only)
Do NOT:
- Share cloud links with others
- Make files publicly accessible
